My Current, 4 Favorite Podcasts

In today’s world, where people multi-tasking is a way of life, podcasts are king.  For those of us who have a commute to work, podcasts are an opportunity to learn on the go.  They turn the time normally reserved for useless radio chatter and fake first date updates, into time spent bettering yourself.  But podcasts aren’t just reserved for the car.  They are a great way to take advantage of any downtime you may have during your day.  If you haven’t started listening to podcasts yet, then I highly suggest you start immediately.  Here are a few of my favorite podcasts.

The Tim Ferris Show

Format: Mixed, Long
Subject: Personal Performance/Development
Who’s this for?: Anybody with an experimental mindset

Tim Ferriss is often called the Oprah of podcasters. Tim has a huge audience, and his podcast is routinely ranked near the top of iTunes most downloaded podcasts.  The episodes are usually in the long format (longer episodes), with episodes often being over an hour in length.  For some people, that can be an issue, but I usually just listen to the podcasts over several car rides.

Tim interviews world class performers and manages to distill their tactics and methods down to actionable nuggets of information.  These performers range from world class athletes, to crazy daredevils like Wim Hof (if you don’t know him, look him up immediately).  One of the things I love about the podcast is the experimental nature of Tim’s topics.  He has been the inspiration for some of my own personal experiments such as my 2 week mushroom powder experiment.

Pacey Performance Podcast

Format” Interview, Long
Subject: Sports Performance
Who’s this for?: Coaches/Trainers

This podcast is for the sports performance nerds out there.  The host, Robert Pacey interviews some of the very best and brightest from the world of sports performance.   Robert is from England, so many of his guests are from England or the UK as well.  Personally, I think it adds to the show because who doesn’t sound smarter with an English accent?

If you are a performance coach, trainer, or someone who just likes to learn, then this podcast is a must-add to your lineup.  I consider the Pacey Performance Podcast to be the premier podcast on sports performance.

Entrepreneur On Fire

Format: Interview, Short
Subject: Business, Entrepeneurship
Who’s this for?: Aspring Entrepreneurs

For me, this is my OG of podcasts.  EO Fire was the first podcast I consistently listened to.  It’s played a big role in inspiring me to start my own business.  John Lee Dumas (JLD) interviews entrepreneurs from all over the world, and the listeners hear their stories and how they built their businesses. EO Fire was a game changer in the podcast world because it was the first podcast to be aired 7 days a week.

Again, this podcast is an interview format, but follows more of a short format.   JLD asks questions such as, “Tell us about your WORST Entrepreneurial moment”, that really dive into the mindset of what being an entrepreneur is.  This podcast is great for anybody who owns their own business, wants to start, one or really anybody who takes personal development seriously.

The Art of Charm

Format: Mixed, Short and Long
Subject: Social Science/Human interaction
Who’s this for?: Anyone interested in personal development

Although the Art of Charm is one of the newer podcasts in my life, it has quickly become one of my favorites.  Similar to Tim Ferris, Jordan Harbinger interviews the top performers from various fields.  But what makes the AoC so unique is in the variety of its format.  They also do shorter episodes like “mini-sode Monday” and “Fan Mail Friday”.  So for those of you who aren’t a fan of the longer forma podcast, these episodes are perfect.

AoC also dives a lot into social sciences and human interactions.  The topics range from human psychology,  reading body language,  to making good first impressions.  Jordan gives his listeners actionable advice and strategies to improve both their careers, and their personal life.

There are many, many great podcast that I didn’t mention.   These are  the ones that have my attention at the moment.  As a huge fan of podcasts, I’m always looking to add more in to my repertoire.
